Techo Palma

This past weekend was the second time visiting El Techo. First time was for brunch, our party of four opted for the bottomless mimosas & the buffet. The food was amazing and the staff was even better. Our waiter went out of his way to ensure we understand how everything worked and truly made the experience even better. That’s what made us visit a second time, for dinner. We are sold and will 100% make it a point to drop in every time we are in the DC area. The staff was so attentive and even the owner stopped by our table multiple times throughout the night the make sure we were taken care of throughout our time spent. The mini chimis and carne asada bowls were to DIE for!! The music, live DJ, the atmosphere was 10/10. The selection behind the bar was nicely stocked. I genuinely recommend this establishment to anyone native or visiting the area!! If I would rate 10 stars if possible!

We had a great time celebrating a birthday here. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great as well. The drinks were well worth it! It was a little pricey for the portion size for food but great for a celebration.

Techo Palma has truly transformed. I was hesitant to return due to past experiences, but my partner encouraged me to give it another try under the new management and I’m so glad I did.<br><br>From the moment I walked up the stairs, I felt a bit of lingering anxiety, but that disappeared once I stepped inside. The atmosphere was completely refreshed....calm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated. Guests were relaxed, some working on laptops, others enjoying conversations with friends or coworkers. Nobody's voice over powering the other... The space felt intentional, with subtle touches like fresh flowers, a well-balanced playlist, and an overall sense of ease that was previously missing.<br><br>In contrast to its past, which often left me with a lingering negative impression, this new iteration feels elevated and welcoming. It carries a more mature, laid-back vibe...something I personally appreciated.<br><br>The updated menu is an experience in itself. The tacos were excellent, and surprisingly, the veggie tacos stood out as my favorite. Every detail, from the food to the drinks, reflected the care put into this new direction.<br><br>A special thank you to the bartender and staff for their exceptional service. Techo Palma has absolutely earned a revised rating, and I look forward to seeing them maintain this standard.<br><br>These reviews below are for El Techo<br>The first time, I came with my partner on a Sunday. The bartender was friendly and the drinks were decent, but the visit took a serious turn. My partner politely approached the DJ to request a song and was dismissed, which was fine—but shortly after, the DJ came up from behind and grabbed me without consent. I was shocked and upset, and when I reacted, he became aggressive and confrontational. It completely ruined the experience. Management apologized at the time and took my information, but I never received any follow-up, which was disappointing.<br><br>I returned more recently for a friend’s birthday brunch, hoping for a better experience. While the atmosphere was calmer and I appreciated that previous staff involved were not present, the brunch itself was underwhelming. The buffet was not worth the price, especially for non-meat eaters, and the food quality was lacking. Drinks were overly sweet, and overall, I would have preferred ordering à la carte.<br><br>I had a great time with my friends, but that was despite the venue, not because of it. Unfortunately, based on both visits, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.
