Friedman's Restaurant: Herald Square

Amazing - better than ever! Been going to several Friedman’s for years. The one on 31st is crushing it! Incredible food (including GF) including omelette, bacon, fresh fruit (huge portion) and chicken fingers. Great service and updated interior. Great for all groups.

Overview We had a mixed experience hosting our monthly community brunch here with a group of 14. The food and drinks were good and the space works well for larger groups, but a few service and logistics issues made the visit feel less welcoming than it should have. Details Our dance community meets around the city weekly for brunch or dinner and we’re always excited to discover places that could become recurring meetup spots. For this visit we had a group of 14 people, and the restaurant accommodated us with a long table, which worked well for a group our size. Overall, everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. One issue was that some dishes arrived only lukewarm. Since everything was served at the same time for the large group, I suspect that may have been the reason. We didn’t mention it during the meal, but it may be worth revisiting the logistics for larger tables so dishes stay hot. Unfortunately, a few service moments stood out in a negative way. On the day of the brunch we called because 2–4 additional people wanted to join. The person on the phone was quite curt and immediately said that would not be possible. When we arrived, however, we noticed there was clearly space next to our table (there was more bench open) where one or two additional tables could have fit, and that space remained unused throughout the meal. There were multiple empty tables in the restaurant during our visit, so accommodating a couple more guests would have been possible. Later in the brunch, after about 1.5 hours, about half of our group had already left and staff began preparing part of the table for the next guests. For the remaining table, we started getting side glances from the servers that made us feel like we should leave, even though nobody actually spoke to us about timing. It left us feeling a bit unwelcome toward the end and we left feeling disappointed. I organize weekly outings for our dance community around the city and we always try to support restaurants that enjoy hosting community gatherings. Our group is respectful, easy to serve, and we even pay with a single card to keep things simple. Because the food and drinks were good, I’d still recommend the restaurant, but the service experience unfortunately keeps it from being a place we’d currently consider for regular meetups.

Perfect pre-MSG concert spot! Walked in during their Happy Hour, which is daily from 2-6pm! FYl, their HH bevs are always avail, but their HH small bites are only avail on the weekdays. We shared everything as a party of 3 and it was just right: - Sweet Potato Fries (HH): Plentiful and the perfect finger food to pick on - Buffalo Wings (HH): Standardly coated with the right level of spice - Korean BBQ Wings (HH): Reminds me of a soy garlic flavor, YUM! - Classic BLAT (Reg item): Shared this w my sister and it came with fries too! This was the right amt to share with all the HH items we got Overall, would return for a reliable, decent American bite if I have another concert nearby. Spacious restaurant, clean restrooms, and helpful staff.
